Snaketag Across Oberrhein
Baden-Württemberg, Hessen, Rheinland-Pfalz - Germany
Planning
*This date is provisional and is still subject to change.

Be part of a new game format: Snaketag — a fusion of the two Jet Lag games, Snake Across South Korea and Tag Across Europe.
The objective of the event is to create the longest possible non-intersecting path on the rail network between Frankfurt and Karlsruhe as a Snaker, while simultaneously having to compete against two rival teams that want to destroy your snake.
About the region
The rail network between Frankfurt and Karlsruhe ranks among the most important in all of Germany, featuring several railway lines that run parallel to one another, and thereby offering excellent conditions for a Snake based game.
Getting There
- Meeting point: Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof on 24th of July at 09:30 AM, half an hour before kick-off.
- Flights: Frankfurt Airport (FRA) is about 10 minutes from central station by train. Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN), Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport (FKB) and Stuttgart Airport (STR) can also work as a budget option, with onward rail connections to Frankfurt.
- Trains: Frankfurt Hbf has direct international and intercity connections, including ICE, IC/EC, TGV, and frequent regional express lines.
- Deutschland-Ticket: All participants need to own the Deutschland-Ticket. The ticket covers all local and regional public transport in Germany and costs 63€ in total. WARNING: The Deutschland-Ticket is a subscription. If you purchase the ticket specifically for this event, you must cancel it immediately to avoid an unpleasant surprise one month later.
Game Info
- Format: A two days game based on strategic routing and advanced timetable navigation under intense psychological pressure.
- Team Building: Three teams are formed, all taking the role of the “Snaker”, with the goal to create the longest snake on the gaming area. At the same time, each team must sabotage the competition to prevent them from forming a longer snake than their own.
- Movement: All travel must occur on local public transport lines. High speed rail (e.g. ICE, IC) or special trains are banned. Every team is required to keep their trackers visible to the opposing teams.
- Challenges: To travel, you must pay 1 coin per kilometre. Coins must be earned by completing challenges. In addition to enabling travel, coins also allow you to purchase powerups. These allow you to, for example, temporarily make your location invisible to the other teams, curse a specific section of the route, or place a roadblock for an opposing team at a strategic stop.
- Scoring: By completing a trip from one node to the next, the corresponding number of kilometres is credited to the scoreboard. Additionally, players have the option to complete a Node Expedition within a specific city. For each completed Node Expedition, the Snaker team receives 10 permanent kilometres that will be credited to the longest snake of each team after the game concluded.
